Raf Martins, a Brazilian-Canadian drummer, started his music journey at 12 with an acoustic guitar in hand, but it wasn’t until he was 16, and got his first drum kit, that he truly found his rhythm behind the drums. The combination of being a self-taught drummer and having had great multi-genre tutors along the way, got him into playing professionally by the age of 18. Raf is known as a versatile musician shaped by the vibrant rhythms of Brazil and broadened by a life of global exploration, his drumming is a fusion of local roots and international insights. The ability to play bossa nova, samba, jazz, classic rock & country led to many opportunities in the music industry. Raf’s journey has taken him from major stages in São Paulo, Brazil, to festivals and venues across Canada and Europe — with a standout moment being his performance at Liverpool’s legendary Cavern Club. His most recent endeavors includes playing the major Festivals in the Eastcost of Canada with major country artists like Sean Michael Ryan and Shane Douthwrite. With each performance, Raf continues to push his musical boundaries, earning recognition for his dynamic drumming and leaving a lasting impact wherever he plays.
