Description
While researching patents for our patented Dreamcatchers design, we discovered the original non-retractable brush was invented and patented in 1913. Billy Gladstone’s brush was first created in 1946 and then patented in 1949. His idea was to offer the drummer 2 different flare sizes, one extending from either end of the tube. When one was not in use the other was retracted into the tube or visa versa. While this was an interesting idea, we all know now that a brush utilizing a pull rod allowing the drummer different flare sizes became the brush of choice. Having said that, we decided to take the Billy Gladstone idea and added a cool twist to it. We have altered the design by having 2 different weighted diameter wire bundles. In one end, we have used our lightest gage ‘Vintage’ wire and a white cap. At the other end, our extreme heavy weight wire at 0.019 and marked this with a black cap. So, the idea is a drummer can mix and match, essentially multiple brush combinations. 2 pairs of brushes in one.
