Christo is recognized internationally as an accomplished Master drummer/ percussionist, recording artist, producer, event coordinator, and rhythm awareness / drum circle facilitator with extensive performance experience. Christo was featured as one of ten “Unsung Drumming Heroes of Los Angeles” as chosen by BAM magazine. He is also an educator, sound healer, and a certified REMO Health Rhythms drum circle facilitator.
He has been a regularly featured performer at a variety of cultural music festivals, including the World Festival of Sacred Music, Bhakti Fest, Lightening in a Bottle, UDAYA Live and Esalen Yoga Festival. He specializes in using specialized acoustic instruments for healing, as well as tuned gongs and singing bowls which he acquired while performing in China, Bali, Vietnam, Indonesia, India, Japan, and Europe.
Christo also has extensive film, TV and international concert and Musical Theater performance credentials with a variety of World, Rock, R&B, and Devotional Singing music artists including Air Supply, Mary Wells, The Shirelles, Fabien Maman, Wade Preston, Leo Nocentelli, Nina Hagen, Breath of Life Tribe, Phoenix Rising Band, Red Musette Ensemble, Stevin McNamara, The BEATLES Yoga, and many others. He played the very first rock concert in Hanoi Vietnam with Air Supply.
Christo has worked with various dance troupes including the esteemed Chicago based LUNA NEGRA Ballet Theater. Christo was co founder and the Music Director for SACRED DANCE LIVE, a world music collective interactive community dance theatre in Santa Monica, and a regular world music performer at DISNEYLAND, and with UDAYA productions on line Yoga Series Liquid Asana Live, and many others. He also performs regularly at various Sacred Music venues and Temples internationally.
Christo is currently the Creative Director for the POSSIBLE DREAM PLAYERS, a musical theatre troupe of adults with developmental disabilities. He is also a veteran teaching artist for several school districts in the greater LA area with the ROCK THE CLASSROOM, HEARTS GIVING HOPE, and US DREAM ACADEMY music / literacy after school programs. His unique interactive drumming/percussion curriculum “RHYTHMAGIC” tm, utilizes instructional exercises and games promoting creative expression through rhythm awareness.
